Illinois debt relief: Couple didn't have credit card for 6 years

There are many families in Illinois that are drowning in a river of debt. Through no fault of their own, they are struggling just to make ends meet from month to month with no debt relief in sight. One couple was in this same position about six years ago, and didn't have a credit card while they were getting out of debt.

Like many thousands of couples in America and Illinois, the couple slowly got deeper and deeper in debt. They knew they were in trouble when they began having to pay for groceries and utility bills with their credit cards. Before they realized it, they found themselves owing approximately $118,000 in credit card debt.

They called a debt counseling center and were able to be faithful to the debt repayment plan set up through the company. After several years of paying down their debt, the couple was finally out of debt. When the couple realized how much trouble they were in, they found the option that worked best for them.

This may not be the best option for every couple in financial trouble. Couples in Illinois may find that they are better off filing for bankruptcy protection and getting a fresh start. Debt relief programs come in all shapes and sizes, and the ultimate goal of any good debt relief program is to get the family out of debt. Filing for bankruptcy protection can do that and also give a family relief from collection actions and creditor lawsuits while the bankruptcy is in progress. Whatever debt relief program a family chooses, it should be one that works best for their situation.
